The Do It Yourself Asthma Remedy

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Paul Newland Natural remedies for asthma may bring about longer term relief from the disease which is likely to be associated with a deficiency of omega 3 essential fatty acids Asthma is a respiratory disease that is characterised by sudden onset with closure of bronchial tubes by spasmodic muscles. Atopic asthma has eczema as a feature along with the respiratory disease. This is a disease involving poor absorption of omega three essential fatty acids and deficiencies of manganese and magnesium. A number of studies have confirmed the increased likelihood of children developing asthma if the maternal diet is low in omega three oils and also the requirement of minerals such as manganese and magnesium for healthy lung function. Natural remedies for asthma should include: Pancreatic enzymes and ox bile at 75-200m each three times per day before meals. These will assist with digestion and absorption of important nutrients Essential fatty acids at 5g three times per day. Colloidal minerals - which contain magnesium and manganese. Herbs are very useful for treating asthma - use caution if you have plant allergies. Useful plant herbs include: honeysuckle, jaborandi, leaks, garlic, evening primrose oil. Essential oils may be of significant benefit as natural remedies for asthma and may be inhaled or massaged into the upper body. Oils include eucalyptus globulus and eucalyptus radiata, peppermint, Ravensara and Naiouli. Along with these natural remedies for asthma have an inhaler ready to cope with any sudden attacks. Preventing an attack. Here’s some factors that may trigger an attack: cold air, salt and sudden over-exertion. Healthy Diet & Lifestyle A healthy diet should be part of your natural remedies for asthma treatment plan. An over-consumption of omega 6 (found mainly in vegetable oils) and low consumption of omega 3 oils found in deep sea, cold water fish (such as salmon, tuna, mackerel) and flax seed can increase the childhood risk of asthma. Best advice is to maximize the intake of omega three oils from fish and EFA supplements and avoid fried food and vegetable oils. Consume plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables including green leafy vegetables which will contain dietary sources of manganese and magnesium. Also plenty of water. While you should exercise with caution, a light to moderate amount of aerobic exercise will help ‘exercise the lungs’. Swimming is especially helpful and should be encouraged. Start any aerobic activity slowly and build up. Summary Natural remedies for asthma include pancreatic enzymes and ox bile to improve absorption, high doses of essential fatty acids and colloidal minerals. Reduce he intake of fried food and vegetable oils and increase consumption of essential fatty acids, green leafy vegetables, fresh fruit and water. Beware: Russian Internet Bride Scams On The Rise

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Jeff Langin Have you been thinking about online dating with a Russian woman? Have you considered a Russian Bride site or even started a relationship with someone special but you’re having doubts about her? If so, you need to read this article about Russian Internet Bride Fraud and Scams. Over the past several years as more and more people go online to find love (among other things), more and more women from around the world are taking notice. More women from economically challenged countries are learning a new trade but it’s not one to be proud of. Some Russian women, it’s hard to say how many, are preying on innocent men who are only looking for friendship, love, a soul mate and ultimately marriage. The following is just one of the scams that they’re pulling. Ill discuss more in other articles, which you can find on my website. The Girlfriend Scam, here’s how it works: A man finds the so-called girl of his dreams on a Russian bride site. This also happens on sites promoting women from China, Philippines, Brazil - you get the picture. The gent signs up and does whatever he has to do to get in touch with the woman he’s interested in. In many cases, he pays for correspondence and translation services to communicate with her. Assuming all goes well, and the bride site itself is legit, he starts a relationship her. They start courting through letters and maybe translated phone calls and soon the man grows very fond of her. After several weeks of beautiful letters back and forth between the two, as they confess that theyre falling in love, the girl suddenly has a financial crisis. Of course the man knew she was financially poor to start with but when he hears what happened to her, he feels compelled to send her money to help her out. The man has his doubts but what can he do? He doesnt want to offend her and whats a few hundred dollars to him? So he goes ahead and sends her some cash. What happens next? No, she doesnt disappear on him. She thanks him and in broken English exclaims how he is her hero and that she will love him forever. Then a few weeks later she picks up the courage to politely and humbly ask for a gift or two. Since she cant be with the man physically, she says she wants to know how he feels all the time with a gift she can wear, like jewellery. The relationship continues and she keeps sending the man glowing letters of undying love and speaks of plans to marry him as soon as possible. But first she wants him to come visit and take her on a holiday away from her home for the first time. Now on one hand this story doesnt seem to be that bad it sounds like a real relationship (at least the beginning of most relationships before a couple starts fighting). The nab is that she is not in love, and she is doing it all to get the mans money and shes doing it to more than one man at a time. Thats the scam. Shes making a living off being a gold-digging girlfriend and she doesnt even have to physically meet the guy. Its happening every day and this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are more ordinate and organized scams run by teams of men and women. If you have any suspicion at all, you should probably trust your gut and find out the truth. If she seems to good to be true and shes asking for money, chances are its a scam. Future articles will dig a little deeper into the fraud that’s going on, who’s at risk and how they can protect themselves. The Surprise Inside!

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

By David Handler Think about all those Cracker Jacks you ate as a kid. Whats your lasting memory? Im guessing its not the taste, but the surprise inside that tiny package that contained a simple puzzle, brain teaser or temporary tattoo. Today, I still glance over my kids shoulders reliving fond memories every time they open one. The goal of promotional marketing for your small business is to put a smile on the face of the recipient, and give them something to remember you by when you call. It goes beyond the traditional postcards and newsletters approach. Its 3-D, and it provides perceived value, regardless of the cost. Few people will unceremoniously toss out a box without checking first to see whats inside. Similarly, if the envelope has a lump in it, people are likely to open it and take a look. That hope of hidden treasure makes folks pay attention. Success Handler Action: If youre thinking about including promotional items in your marketing campaign, here are some things to consider. (If your small business is selling promotional items, use this as a value-add to help your customers define their goals): What do I hope to accomplish and what response am I looking to receive? Where possible, quantify the expected results: Well send this to 150 targeted prospects, follow-up with every one by phone within three weeks, and set sales appointments with 20. Who am I going to reach? Determine your perfect target audience. Is it your current prospect and/or customer list, members of the Chamber, a purchased mailing list, or some other group? Be specific. With your team, brainstorm some creative ideas that might attract potential customers. Choose a theme that best supports your products and services, and your image. Identify every component of your promotion: action steps, timeline, responsibility assignments and how youll follow-up with prospects. Create a budget. Remember to include all costs and when they will be incurred. Let everyone know when the promotion begins so they can track results. Share progress with your entire team. Good Examples: An equipment manufacturer developed a two-part promotion to introduce existing clients to a new product line and upgrades. The first piece was a custom-designed box containing candy (One Sweet Deal), along with a business reply card that asked questions tied to the new equipment. The second was a similar box containing a glass jar (engraved with the manufacturers logo, of course). Inside was a brochure and note thanking the recipient for responding. Throughout the year, the company sent candy to refill the jars. The best promotional idea Ive heard recently comes from one of our clients. After learning the post office will deliver just about any shaped item, their highly creative sales associate mailed miniature pumpkins to a targeted list (picture those orange gourds that fit in the palm of your hand). They slapped a mailing label and postage right on the pumpkins and took them to the post office. In follow-up calls, they received an over-the-top recognition response, and, more importantly, made several new customers. With so many offers arriving in the mail these days, it takes creativity for your small business to stand out from the crowd and grab someones attention. Come up with the right promotional idea, and you may surprise your prospects and yourself. Copyright 2004 by Success Handler, LLC. All rights reserved. Nurse’s Guide to Dry Skin Care

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Helen Hecker As we age, our skin produces less of the natural oil that helps it retain its moisture. Only a lucky few have ‘normal’ skin; the rest of us have a dry, oily or combination variety; if dryness is your problem, read on. Xeroderma is a very common condition. The average square inch of skin holds 650 sweat glands, 20 blood vessels, 60,000 melanocytes, and more than a thousand nerve endings. Skin consists of loose connective tissue and elastin. Skin contains the hair follicles, sweat glands, sebaceous glands, apocrine glands and blood vessels. Epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. The blood vessels in the dermis provide nourishment and waste removal to its own cells as well as the epidermis. The dermis is structurally divided into two areas: a superficial area adjacent to the epidermis, called the papillary region, and a deep thicker area known as the reticular region. Symptoms most associated with Xeroderma are scaling (the visible peeling of the outer skin layer), itching, and cracks in the skin. Bathing or showering too frequently, especially if one is using harsh soaps, may also contribute to xeroderma. Dry skin happens more often in the winter when cold air outside and heated air inside cause low humidity. Forced-air furnaces make skin even drier. The use of natural or synthetic cosmetics to treat the appearance of the face and condition of the skin (such as pore control and blackhead cleansing) is common among many cultures. Cosmetics should be used carefully because they may cause allergic reactions like contact dermatitis. Apply moisturizers just after a bath or shower, when your skin is still damp. Put two tablespoons of coconut oil in your smoothies. For an easy fiber boost, mix in two tablespoons of ground up flaxseeds in raw applesauce, from 2-3 apples, made in your food processor. The two most common, sluggish, digestion culprits that affect your skin are not enough water and not enough fiber. Consider taking cod liver oil or fish oil supplements every day. Drink plenty of water, a minimum of a quart a day. Apply a thin layer of coconut oil and massage it deep into the skin. If you also have eczema or acne, coconut oil will treat those skin conditions too. The best treatment I’ve found for dry skin is coconut oil. Also use a thin layer of coconut oil under your make-up to moisturize your skin all day. Unclean skin favors the development of pathogenic organisms - the dead cells that continually slough off of the epidermis mix with the secretions of the sweat and sebaceous glands and the dust found on the skin to form a filthy layer on its surface. The skin is subject to constant attack from without, so can be affected by numerous conditions, diseases and ailments. Functions of the skin are disturbed when it is dirty; it becomes more easily damaged, the release of antibacterial compounds decreases and dirty skin is more prone to develop infections. If nothing seems to work it might be more than dry skin, so you should see the doctor. Usually, these days, we can take care of dry skin without seeing our doctor, but sometimes we can’t avoid it. Make sure to call your dermatologist when you have any open cuts or sores from scratching that won’t heal. How to Handle Inter-faith Marriages

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

By Amy Spade Youll know long before you start the wedding plans if your faiths are different from one anotherso this shouldnt be a shock. And you may have already begun how you want to deal with this. It doesnt have to be a problem; rather, it can be a great way to create a new ceremony for the both of you. Deciding to convert Before deciding to convert to one religion or another, you want to take your time to discover why youre doing it. Do you truly want to convert to another religion or do you just want to make your spouses family happy? This is a very honest discussion to have with your self and there arent any good answers, except for the ones that are true. If you feel that converting is a good decision for you, then by all means, go ahead and take the steps needed. Many times, youll have to take classes and speak with the religious head well in advance of any wedding plans. The trick is not to feel pressured into converting. And with all of the emotions attached with a wedding, some families may have trouble accepting someone of a different faith. If you believe that you want to remain the faith that you are, you should do so. And if your spouse is trying to coax you into converting, you may want to hold off on the wedding as well. This is a very personal choice, and it needs to be made by the individual, not everyone else. A dual faith wedding Its actually very easy to have a wedding that incorporates two different faiths. Sit down and see what each faith requires at the wedding and then talk about how you can compromise to make sure all is proper. You may want to have the wedding in a non-denominational setting so that you dont have the home court advantage for one faith or another. You may also decide to have two different ceremonies weaving in and out of one another, combing elements of both faiths. This really shows the commitment to each other and to the separate faiths. You may also want to have two different ministers or one denominational. Thats up to you, but if youre a part of a temple or a church, you may need to be married by one of the parishs priests or synagogues rabbis. No Sign in the Prayer Test

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By Nicholas Chorba The recent release of the Richard Dawkins book, “The God Delusion”, has brought renewed accusations from the faithless that prayer is scientifically proven to have no effects. This is primarily based on the findings of Harvards STEP study that monitored three groups of cardiac patients to find very little if any difference in complications and recovery time, but is further based upon other studies in the past ten years that have turned in similar results. There are many obvious reasons as to why the notion of scientifically proving or disproving the effectiveness of prayer is beyond the ability of science to demonstrate. These reasons have been stated to varying degrees on both sides of the fence of faith. One thing that is of note as a primary corruptor of the prayer test is the factor of personal faith. There is not really a control group to measure any results. Even the non-prayed for people would naturally corrupt the results of the test by either praying for themselves or having loved ones pray for them even if they themselves did not pray. This would place themselves on equal footing with the prayed for group. Faith is generally taught throughout the New Testament as a prerequisite for the receiving of a miraculous healing or anything of a non-natural nature. Jesus Christ was God in the flesh, yet where there was little faith, He worked very few miracles. God has an unlimited supply of power to provide whatever we might need, but He rewards us with those provisions on the contingency that we have faith. It matters not if our faith is the size of a mustard seed or as large as the universe itself. We simply need to have faith. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith this way, Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see. Since the researchers of the test are really the ones who are requesting the prayers, these prayer requests are being made without faith despite who is voicing them. These researchers dont necessarily deny that prayer will work, but they dont expect it to work either. Jesus clearly taught us that You are not to put the Lord your God to the test (Matthew 4:7). As such, there is no reason for the Christian to believe that God would substantially manifest himself within the confines of a man defined test to give the doubting world a sign. This notion of demanding a sign is nothing new. Jesus confronted the same issue in His own day. He spoke of these people like this, To what should I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces who call out to one another, We played the flute for you, yet you did not dance; we wailed in mourning, yet you did not weep (Matthew 11:16-17). Scientists, and those who place their faith in them, are making the same complaint today. Others are not playing the game according to the way they choose to play the music. God wont dance for them. They are not concerned about Gods way, but only their own. Jesus was consistent in His response to these people, and Herod was one of these people. When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him and was hoping to see him perform some miraculous sign. So Herod questioned him at considerable length; Jesus gave him no answer (Luke 23:8-9). If people truly want to have a sign revealed to them, they should be researching the prophecies contained within the Bible to see what the world is to be like when Christ returns. However, there is no faith on their part. Even when very specific prophecies are revealed that can only be fulfilled within our own generation, they will still say that it is only coincidence. It is not a sign to them, because they simply cant find it within themselves to take God at His word. In the end, this is what these modern prayer tests are all about. People are looking for a sign. However, the only sign Jesus left us with was his resurrection (the sign of Jonah) that was witnessed by over 500 people (1Corinthians 15:6); more than enough to win a case in court. Now when the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. He said, . . . You know how to judge correctly the appearance of the sky, but you cannot evaluate the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. Then he left them and went away (Matthew 16:1-4). http://christianprayerandfasting.com/author/lishep/ Nicholas Chorba is the Site-Administrator of http://christianprayerandfasting.com and a graduate of Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA. How To Plan A Garden Right

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By David Kurshel Gardening is a hobby that brings joy, entertainment, and a better quality of life. It is a creative activity, the result of which is a more aesthetically appealing home. Thoughtful planning of a garden starts with the type of garden you would like to have. Deciding on a type of garden is essential defore choosing which design elements to include. Will your garden be just a place to plant a bunch of flowers, which will blossom only during the growing season? Or would you rather have a thoughtfully-chosen herb garden? Or maybe just a vegetable plot? Another issue to consider is the climate in your location. It can be surprising how little we know about the facts, figures and statistics of the weather where we live. You may want to consult an online map to get statistical data regarding climate elements like rainfall per month or average temperatures. The next step, after having decided about the type of garden and after investigating the local climate, is to figure out the plants that you would like to grow in your garden. Think of plants that are suitable for the duration of the growing season in your location and that will survive the changes in temperature, typical for your location. The thoughtful planning of a garden involves one more factor to consider how much shade is necessary for each of the plants. You need to make sure that there is enough light all over the places you plan to plant your garden. When you have finished with planning in theory, it is time to start planning the plots in your garden. Again, think for a good plan one that brings joy, is easy to keep to, and at the same time efficiently uses the available space. Think about where to place plants that require a lot of sunlight. The best place for such plants is away from buildings and taller trees because these block the light at daytime. Deciding which plants to grow near the house, and which should be in the open also requires some thought. If you prefer the sunshine streaming through your windows, then you are best not to have bulky trees or bushes near the house, where they will block the sunlight. If you have decided that you will be growing herbs and vegetables, the best place for them is near the house. When they are near the house, it is more likely that you will be using them for cooking. Besides convenience, you should also think about the location of vegetables as far as their needs for sunlight are concerned. This is especially true if yours is mainly a vegetable garden. Last, but not least, take into account your personal preferences, when designing a garden. If there are particular extras you would like to have, for instance winding pathways or gazebos, include them in the initial design of the garden. Your outdoor garden is constrained only by the limits of your creativity and the growing season in your location. The Right Marketing Message

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Debbie LaChusa The concept of marketing can be summed up very simply as having the “Right Message” in the “Right Place” in front of the “Right People” at the “Right Time.” While that may sound simple, sometimes executing it is not so simple. Because if you’re off in any one of these areas it can negatively affect the outcome of your marketing. Let’s talk about having the “Right Message” for a moment. This begs the question, just what should you talk about in your marketing? Many small business marketers make the mistake of talking all about themselves, their products or their services. That’s like meeting someone for the first time and having them talk incessantly about themselves. These aren’t typically the kind of people we want to spend a lot of time with. I remember a woman I used to work with years ago. Her name was Heather. Heather was a bubbly redhead who seemed to make friends everywhere she went. She had a knack for making people feel special. Me included. Then one day I realized what it was. She always asked me how I was doing. She asked about my kids and my husband. She asked about my dogs, and my running. She knew what was important to me and she always made a point of bringing these things up in conversation. As small business marketers we could learn a thing or two from Heather. By focusing on WHO we are talking to and talking about what’s important to them, we engage our prospects and customers. We talk TO them instead of talking AT them. And that’s the key to having the right marketing message. Debbie LaChusa created The 10stepmarketing System to make marketing your own business as simple as answering 10 questions. Nauli - Clean The Body Of Impurities

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

By Kevin Pederson Nauli is a purificatory process of eliminating the impurities that have gathered in the body. You can practice this process only if you have impurities collected in the body otherwise there is no need to practice it everyday. This process should be performed in the standing position. Stoop forward slightly and turn the belly swiftly from left to right. Rotate the belly swiftly from left to right and vice versa. When the abdominal wall becomes concave, the front abdominal walls are contracted and the other muscles of the abdominal walls are relaxed. The abdominal wall consists of three sets of abdominal muscles called abdominal recti which are vertical and run from below the navel till the chest bone, the transverse abdominal muscles running across the abdominal wall and the internal and external oblique muscles. Of these, only the central vertical muscles are to be contracted. This contraction isolates them from the other muscles of the abdominal wall. They stand out like the column in midst of the concavity of the abdomen. This is caused by making a thrust from behind at the lower end, located at about two inches from the navel. Regular practice makes this task easier. When you contract the front abdominal muscles in the same way; as you contract the muscles of the anus while defecating at the time of constipation; is called Madhya-nauli or nauli-madhyana. Hold this isolation for a few seconds while the breath is held out. Nauli-chalana involves the isolation of only one of the two abdominal recti at a time, moving it to an end and then to the center, while repeating the same process with the other recti. Nauli is the foremost amongst all the shuddhikriyas or cleansing processes. It affects practically all the functions of the body. Periodic repletion of this activity will ensure that your internals will remain clean and free of any impurities. Kevin Pederson is the webmaster for Yogawiz , where you can find information on yoga basics, different yoga asanas, poses and much more.
