Finding Unique Scholarships Online

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Amber Lowery So, like most people you are likely reeling from the cost of college these days. Scholarships seem like a great option to lessen the blow to your wallet. But, you may be wondering if they are achievable for the average student. The good news is they most certainly are. Not all scholarships are academic scholarships that consider only the straight A, honor-roll students. Many relatively unknown scholarships are available. For example, have you heard about the duct tape prom dress scholarship? Or, what about the scholarship that’s just for tall people? Yes, those scholarships are real. And, there are many others out there like them. But, how in the world do you go about finding one the suits you (or your students) quirks? The information is out there, much of it online. Here are 3 Simple Tips for locating unusual scholarships online: 1. Use Search Engines - Using Google search for “left hand scholarships” (with quotes) if you are left handed. Insert your various unique qualities and / or hobbies. Don’t overlook small things, like hair color, eye color, height, etc… You never know what you will find! 2. Sign Up For a Scholarship Database - There are many scholarship databases online, some free, some paid. These databases usually contain a fairly comprehensive list of available scholarships. We review several popular databases on our site. 3.Visit message boards and forums - A search on your favorite search engine for “scholarship forum” or “scholarship message board” will likely provide you with a wealth of resources. Visit active forums to network with other students who are looking for scholarships. Interesting scholarshipswill likely get talked about. This is a great way of getting “in the know”. With a bit of time and effort, you can uncover real gems. Unusual and quirky scholarships do exist, you just need to find them. The internet can be a great tool to mine for these treasures. Stop Your Marketing Leaks

Friday, March 28th, 2008

By Catherine Franz Thirty percent of all the drinkable water that runs between the plant and your faucet is lost to leaky pipes. In marketing, thirty percent of our business is lost to leaky follow up. Even professional sales people have leaky follow up when they stop after one or two contact points. How much business are you letting get lost to your leaky pipes. Here are some ways to tape them up or you may have to replace some fittings: 1. Do a check up of your follow-up system from the time of precontact to six months later. Since only 2% of sales occur after a first contact and does not go up until the fifth contact — it goes to 80% then — what is your follow- up plan of action between the first contact point and the fifth? This means that if you e-mail them once or twice there is less than 2% they will read it. People are very busy and even if you put the same message out week after week, there is less than 13% chance that they will even notice its the same message. And they will need to see it at least 5 times before they will “really” read it. Follow- up is an easy plan, that is, once you sit down and plan it out. 2. I read a book this weekend, Marketing Outrageously. In it, Jon Spoelstra, puts it so well, “Prepare yourself in writing.” Another favorite saying I keep on my wall is, “If it ain’t written down, its a wish floating in the wind.” I don’t remember the author. Create a plan. Even if it is a struggle to do so, create one the best way you can, yet it needs to be in writing. Creating a marketing plan is not something that comes by osmosis. I have read plenty of books on creating a marketing plan, however, until I worked with an expert I just could not make it simple. And until I made it simple, I would do it — catch 22. Find an expert, hire them, and learn it. It will make the difference between success and struggle. 3. Never stop marketing — not even in the good times. Never be too busy to market. There is a time lag in any marketing between the time of first contact and the buy. That lag time can be devastating to a business operating on the edge. It also causes a feast or famine roller coaster ride for the business. If you are too busy, leverage your resources by outsourcing. 4. Find your rhythm and make it work with productivity. Are you a morning person or does your energy crash around 2 PM? Tony Robbins taught me an exercise a long time ago that still works to this day. I read all my research material, write down all the questions, and then go to sleep. When I wake up the plan is outlined for me and most if not all my questions are answered. You can use this same exercise by doing this before you talk a walk or exercise. A few of my clients told me they do it before they get in the shower or are taking a long drive with someone who doesn’t talk much. When the answers or plan is not answer in the morning, it usually presents itself within a few days all on its own. What I like about this method is how more innovative methods show themselves that can be completed with fewer resources. My last leak pursuit began with 20 steps and missing pieces that ended up with five steps and no holes. The unconscious mind is a power tool we forget too often that is on our side. 5. Stop all unproductive marketing activities that are not boosting your profits. If the ROI isn’t there almost immediately, rethink it and adjust or eliminate. You need be able to measure your marketing efforts in some form. Most people just don’t like doing it, so they jester it off as impossible. Know where your clients come from. If you only have a few, then trace them back to their origin. If you do not know, ask them, and then record it. Next, ask the question, “What can I do more to attract clients in this same method?” A client in New Zealand just recently learned that her ad in the local paper is productively attracting clients. Originally, she wanted to change it. It wasn’t delivering the 5 to 1 ratio I recommend for her industry — coaching — yet it is attracting a 3 to 1 ratio. A good ratio for a country that is just learning about coaching. Shoot for a 5 to 1 ratio — for every $1 you spend, you need to make $5. 6. Market more frequently to your current customer base - much more often. Very few professionals that I have talked too stay in touch with existing and past customers often enough. They think they might be “bothering” them by telling them about new products or opportunities you have. Guess what, this is a fable. The easier you make it for them, the more they will appreciate it. There is so much hype of “too much e-mail.” Some people are going to be offended if they get one a month from you, do not be concerned, let them go. Staying in touch is must for keeping your name in front of people. And if you don’t, people are too busy to remember you when they need what you offer again. They will always use whatever is easiest to remember at the time. Even if you were dynamic before. 7. Leverage your time by outsourcing whatever mechanical tasks you can. Hire a virtual assistant to help manage communications. The lag time between the time you hire them and the ROI (return on your investment in them) is about 2-3 months (before the dollars follow your leveraging). Always hire others that you can pay less than yourself. If you are paid to write at $75 an hour, hire a typist at $15 an hour. Stop wanting it all. Keep the money flow going and you will attract more. It is also good for the economy. If errands are not productive for you, hire a high school or college student part-time to do them. If you can hire a student for less than what you make, do it. Fight the fear of, “Will I be able to pay them?” Well, here are six great ideas to check for leaks in your business. Don’t let the fish get away, fish with the right hook. By Shaunta Pleasant The winter season has long been a time of celebration, and the wide availability of some truly magnificent winter wedding cakes means the winter time is also a wonderful time for wedding celebrations. As more and more brides and grooms recognize the many advantages of the winter season for weddings, the demand for winter wedding cakes is only expected to grow. Weddings in all seasons take plenty of time to plan right, and it is important to start shopping for that perfect wedding cake as early as possible. Picking A Baker That Can Meet Your Needs One of the reasons why it is so important to start shopping for those winter wedding cakes as early as possible is that it may take some time to find the perfect baker. Not every baker in town will be able to handle the special demands of winter wedding cakes, so it is important to look for a baker who has plenty of experience creating wonderful wedding creations. Review The Portfolio Of the Baker You Want To Choose When shopping for the perfect supplier of winter wedding cakes it is a good idea to look at the portfolio of past winter wedding cakes the baker has created. Any good supplier of wedding cakes should be more than happy to show off his or her past creations, so be sure to ask for a look at this past work. It is important to look carefully at the winter wedding cakes the baker has created in order to ensure that the cake he or she provides for the big day will be of the highest quality and have the best taste. Test Tasting To Ensure You Get A Good Product Speaking of taste, testing the taste of those winter wedding cakes is one of the best parts of shopping for the perfect wedding cake. Be sure to sample lots of different winter wedding cakes, not only white cakes but chocolate, strawberry and other flavors as well. Bass Fishing - Texas Rig

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Bobby Ivie I’ve caught bass on crankbaits, spinners, plugs and others. But for me, the most fun is plastic worms on a Texas Rig. Don’t get me wrong, catching a largemouth bass is catching a largemouth bass, and I’d gladly catch one with my mother’s toe nail if they’d bite it. What’s my fascination with plastic worms and the Texas Rig? Simplicity in changing baits from color to color and style, they are weedless and effective. But there’s more to it. I love them because I feel they are more interactive and you have to fool the bass more than with other baits. If you throw out a worm and just reel it in, you are not likely to catch many fish. You have to know how to work it and you have to be very patient in your presentation and when the fish hits. Sometimes the strike will be like an explosion, and you and bass both know what’s happening. Others it’s very subtle. Sometimes you won’t even know the bass has it until you reel in the slack and feel something different going on. Maybe there should be slack in the line but it’s getting tight. Or vice-versa. Or maybe you can see the line going sideways in the water. That’s one of my favorites because you have to know the right time to set the hook. Set it too soon and the largemouth may not have it in it’s mouth good. Set it too late and it might have spit it out. That’s exciting; and frustrating. The Texas rigged plastic worm (you can use it for other plastics, too) is very portable. If you want to hike around the lake and fish the shore, don’t lug your whole tackle box. Just get a worm pouch, load it with a few favorite styles, colors, hooks and sinkers, stuff it in your back pocket and hit the trail. Plus, you can change lures on the fly. Once your Texas Rig is set up, it’s a matter of pulling the bait off the hook and sliding another on. No knots to retie. This gives you freedom to explore different colors and styles of plastics in a hurry. In a Texas Rig, the sinker is a bullet slip sinker that rides freely on the line with nothing else between the rod and the bait (the benefit is that the bass cannot feel the sinker when it strikes). This drags the plastic bait down and allows it to bounce or swim along the bottom. To set it up just run your line through a bullet slip sinker (best sizes are from 3/8 oz. to an ounce) and tie the line to a worm hook size 2 or 3. The twisted ones help with hookset. Once you have the hooked tied on, run the hook tip through the end of the head of the plastic and push it in about a quarter of an inch. Now run the hook tip out of the plastic bait (belly side) and push the bait up the hook towards the eye. Bury the tip of the hook into the bait near the abdomen or egg sac. Some people push it all the way through and snug the hook tip near the body (on the backside or top). This allows for better hook set, but results in more snags. I like to push it through just before it breaks out of the back where I can feel that it will pop through easily. If you do this, be sure to set the hook hard to penetrate the plastic. When you cast the bait, let it settle all the way to the bottom and give it several seconds before moving it. Sometimes the longer you wait, the better luck you will have. Even 30 seconds or more. Try different presentations from very slow to moderate (never very fast). I usually give the bait 1 or 2 short pumps, let it fall while reeling in the slack, then give it 2 or 3 pumps. Be careful. Always reel in the slack, but more often than not that’s when you’ll get the bite. They often hit it on the fall, so expect something every time you bring in the slack. You can try longer pumps, like bring the line in 2 or 3 feet then let it settle. Try moving it painfully slow, try bouncing it quicker, try swimming it very slowly across the bottom and whatever else you can think of. When something works, stick with it. Use the worms around vegetation and rocks. My best luck has been around trees in the water. Sometimes there will be trees that hang out into the water. These are hot spots for bass. One trick I learned by accident is to cast the Texas Rig out over a weak limb hanging over the water. You want a weak limb because you want it to break or collapse when the bass hits, and it will. I move that plastic worm up and down, in and out of the water to tease and annoy the bass. If there’s one there, you’ll get a strike. Controversial Weight Loss

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By George Crocker I have a Gym Membership with a friend, a gym Buddy, I’ve also made Gym Buddies from the Gym itself.I go 4 times a week for 2 hours due to Laziness.I do 20 minutes on Treadmill or atleast 250 Calorie burn or till I break a sweat (running is IMP), before Weight lifting. Now For my diet, its nothing superb as Weight loss is not really in for me, right now I’m just eating normally and Burning at the gym. After my 1 year Sacrifice ( lost 40 kilos Thanks to MyoKa Slimming Club). I couldn’t Continue, I went to America on Holiday and I never went back to the Diet (Damn you Beer and Pancakes with Granola!). I’ve got an Addiction and its called Chocolate, from the age of 2 I used to Eat Chocolate like a Maniac. And I got Very fat. (109 kilos at age 15). Not only that I was taking Prescription Medicine to Ease my ADHD, which meant that the Medicine supplied Slowed my Metabolism and I ate Chocolate to get that Dopamine firing…when they were dead (ritalin makes u very fat). Anyways Now after the Diet, I discovered on my own terms. The Regurgitating Trick, after watching Foxes doing it on their children on National Geographic. It worked well, I’ve eaten Kilos of Chocolate, and Spat it out …I didnt get any fatter…This was Due that each time I eat a chocolate, I get cravings immediately… Although Not solving the problem, I’m making myself Happier and Spitting out the Crap my stomach doesn’t have to digest. Its safer then Vomiting, as you only spit out the BAD food. Also If you Suffer from Uncontrollable Cravings like i did, for any kind of food, there is one food which satisfies food craving and equals 0 Calories. Its called Cigarettes, I smoke them everyday and when I’m hungry all day, I smoke 3 packets…when I’m not I go back to my normal 1 packet a day.Think Cigarettes are expensive? Constant Diets cost more.Think Cigarettes are Dangerous? My Gran never smoked a Cig, but died of Back and Stomach cancer because of her Huge Weight vomiting out Black matter on her Death Bed Croaking. That was my motivation to stop Eating like a Pig, also my Grandads vice was Ciggarettes, He died in his sleep with Bronchitus (wow!). Contrary to Popular Belief: Obesity is more dangerous then cigarettes.Obesity is so UNDERRATED, I’ve been obese and even tried to kill myself ,(Kids are very brutal). When you’re called Milky Tits, Larger than life, Blob the monster, “does it hurt when [milk company] takes of the straps off your tits?” and when girls just make fun of you because you’re so fat.. Thats where it leads Depression, anxiety, low self confidence …much more.. I couldn’t do push ups I couldn’t run ..I’ve been smoking for 2 years…and Dieting for 1 (with help of cigs) and I Can run and I can do push ups…. I do have a smokers cough, but so what ATLEAST I can do it.I can run 4 sodding miles non stop, when before I couldn’t run half a mile. When you are obese you are not normal, you are Sick and it does lead to sickness both mentally and Physically, Lets See your Back Bend with all that weight, your stomach cramp and your Blood Pressure Rise …You’ll wish you ashed in your lungs. To go back to Over-eating is way to easy, what are you going to do when you go on holiday?Take a break from Diets like I did ?!I came back 10 kilos Fatter COME ON ..and I couldn’t go back to my diet. Diet Pills ? They don’t work and are worse then cigarettes. Conclusion: Cigarettes plus Regurgitation might Seem Disgusting, Harsh and Controversial, but overall its cheaper then Diet Clinics. My Mother has been 10 times to diet clinics because she always gives in to Gluttony.Thats $1000 in a years rate. I’d rather spend my well earned money on something that Needs no sacrifice.Anyways Your Last years are the Worst ones..unless you like spending your Time in a Old Persons home day dreaming ….Cigarettes kill millions a year, but if it was as bad as they say it was, they’d be giving the Age of the people who died…but they wouldn’t because people would say “oh but they’re all 76…one is 56 ..”Anti-Cigarette NPO’s play dirty tricks too…Cancer boy ? Oh plz, this Coming from the worlds fattest nation, sounds more like a Call to smoke. Basically: Keep yourself Fit(gym-wise), Smoke and if you feel like that Hit of Chocolate Regurgitate, obviously not infront of people as its quite sick to watch. I’m off. Love and Dating - Make it Your Business

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Janice D. Bennett, Ph.D. Adam is 37 years old, single, and a successful financial analyst. Adam has a track record of picking quality people to work with and profitable business ventures to pursue. Hence, he has created a loyal group of colleagues and clients who trust that whatever project Adam invites them to participate in, they will all profit. Celia, a 47 year old medical researcher, was happily married for 20 years before her husband suddenly died. Celia subsequently poured herself into her work and made many significant contributions to science. She has such a good name in her scientific community that she is frequently invited to meetings and conferences to share her discoveries, and to participate in other important research projects. Both Adam and Celia derive a great deal of gratification and pleasure from their professional pursuits. But neither of them is totally happy in their lives. Despite their professional accomplishments, Adam and Celia share a secret they each long for a loving companion, a partner with whom to share their successes, and their lives. Celias desire to remarry prompted her to join an online dating website. She dedicated herself to creating a profile to attract the kind of men she wanted to meet. Rather than use the personnel photo from her research institution, she invested in professional photos that reflected her passion and her spirit. She also asked people she knew to arrange blind dates, and began to attend events where she could meet other singles sharing her interests. Adam knew that hed have to make finding a life partner a priority, and that dating would require his best time management skills. He crafted an effective online dating profile, learning that being specific about what he wanted could also assist various family members and business partners to suggest women for him to date. He was diligent about making email and phone contacts and scheduling in-person dates. If Adam had to travel for business, he tried to schedule dates to meet women that he had screened ahead of time. Adam and Celia discovered the dating process to be a rocky road. They became frustrated seeing the investment of their time frequently turn into rejections and dead ends. Staying focused on dating was especially difficult when each were invited to participate in professional projects promising greater gratification. Adam found himself attracted to new business ventures requiring more travel; Celia had difficulty turning down offers that would make her feel wanted, competent and productive. Rather than continue being discouraged and frustrated by dating, they filled their lives with more work. Situations such as Adam and Celias are typical of many singles today. Their lives are very unbalanced while they are successful in their professional lives, they feel the opposite in their personal lives, especially viz. relationships. Since their work pursuits provide an environment of mastery, they have frequent opportunities to feel desired, competent and capable. In contrast, their personal lives are full of uncertainty, with little predictability about the outcome of any date, or of any relationship. What can singles do when they feel pulled away from pursuing a life partner relationship by the familiarity and comfort of work? How can they keep focused on attaining their relationship goals when they encounter so much frustration, disappointment and rejection along the way? The key is to identify behaviors in your professional life that make for success, and then adapt them to your personal life. For example, when Adam goes to professional meetings or seminars, he pays close attention to the people who ask questions. If he thinks that someone raises a good point, he will seek them out later to get better acquainted. Adam is frequently successful by following his instincts in this way and meeting potential new partners or clients. Adam can parlay this strategy into his personal life. By listening closely to what others are saying when he attends classes, parties, or other social functions, he can segue into conversations about mutual interests, and learn more about a person to initiate a potential relationship. Celia uses the scientific method of testing hypotheses in her research, and then gathers information to prove or disprove them. In order to obtain significant results that her colleagues will trust, Celia has to be sure to use reliable tools and methods to conduct careful and thorough investigations. This gives Celia the confidence that her results will contribute to a particular area of science. This strategy can be utilized while dating as well. Celia can gather information by asking questions, listening to the answers, and observing the behaviors of her dating partners. Celia can use the information she gathers to determine if she wants to continue in a relationship, or not. Most successful business-people (Donald Trump included, of course) recognize that the art of the deal involves a great amount time, patience and commitment. Finding and creating a life partner relationship really is no different. These are just a few ideas for how to apply successful business strategies to your personal life. Undoubtedly, there are many others. Make it your business to find love. Identify the skills you already use in order to get results in your work-life. Then see how these strategies can be applied toward the goal of finding and creating a gratifying life partner relationship. Copyright 2005 Janice D. Bennett, Ph.D. >About Janice D. Growing in My Garden

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Carolina Fernandez “If seeds in the black earth can turn into such beautiful roses, what might not the heart of man become in its long journey toward the stars?” G.K. Chesterton I woke up today with achy muscles and hamstrings that feltstretched to the max. Too much time at the gym? Too many mileson my bike? Nope. Just lots and lots of gardening. This week I joined hundreds of others who, pulled by SpringFever, sunshine, and fresh air, flocked to nurseries and gardencenters in search of the perfect annuals, shrubs, planters, andgarden ornaments. And boy oh boy, did we find them. We came indroves, fellow gardeners and I, driving way too many miles inthis gasoline-crisis-environment of ours, looking for the bestprices, the best selection, and the best accessories. And you know what I mean by garden accessories, right? It’s abusiness reaction as befitting this gardening frenzy as hot dogbuns are to hot dogs. And we’re not just talking planters, birdhouses, and birdbaths anymore, either. We’re talking benches, arches, baker’s racks, shutters, statues, sundials…with bunnies and roosters in all shapes and sizes to boot. Do you want those in bronze, black or antique white? Distressed? Shiny? Whatever your fancy, they’re yours for the buying. And buying them we are. What with cocooning becoming the “in”lifestyle of the 90’s, it’s no wonder that we’ve attacked ouryards with passion. And our wallets. Americans spend just under$40 billion-yes, that’s a “b”-on lawn care annually, according to the National Gardening Association. And the annual rate of growth in the industry has been at 8% for the last five years. In fact, eight out of ten households in the U.S. actively participate in indoor and outdoor lawn and garden activities of the do-it-yourself nature in one way or another, a degree equal to the highest level of participation in the last five years. Sales of bulbs to consumers have nearly doubled within the past five years, too. And retail sales of floral products come in around $13 billion. We can hardly help ourselves. Researcher Mike Steven establishedin a research project in Australia entitled “The CongruentGarden: An Investigation into the Role of the Domestic Garden inSatisfying Fundamental Human Needs,” that gardens have thepotential to satisfy nine basic human needs, including, inaddition to subsistence, affection and creation, which resonatemost closely with my own experience there.* Gardening allows me to forget the troubles of my everyday worldand become immersed into creating something of beauty. Gardeningallows me, as I mindlessly pull weeds, arrange potting soil intocontainers, and pat dirt gently around freshly planted flowers,to sift my thoughts through a filter energized by sunshine andfresh air. It gives me the freedom to enjoy the wild songs of the birds, the bubbling of the brook….and the humming of thelawnmower of a neighbor I hadn’t previously recognized. Gardening forces me out of my comfort zone behind the computerscreen at which I stare seven days a week, and into the world ofperennials and annuals, the names, sunlight requirements, andbloom cycles which continue to escape my memory. It forces me toget my hands and fingernails dirty (I hate wearing gloves) andcelebrate the tactile pleasure of running damp soil through mypalms and pressing it into the earth. Gardening stretches me. Ithelps to illuminate my innermost thoughts. It forces me out ofthe cerebral nature of the work that I do, and pushes me into the physical nature of work in which I feel so incompetent. As we celebrate Spring….and fight the Fever together…engagein work of your hands by working the earth beneath your feet.Allow yourself to become intoxicated by the beauty and aroma offlowers. For as it was so aptly said in the TV show A Gardener’sDairy: “What grows in the garden, so lovely and rare? Roses andDahlias and people grow there.” Yes. People grow in gardens.Robert Ingersolll wrote: “Every flower about a house certifies to the refinement of somebody. Every vine climbing and blossoming tells of love and joy.” And growing in love and joy is, after all, what growing in one’sgarden is all about. *Note: Mike Steven, Lecturer in Landscape Studies, University ofWesten Sydney, Australia Carolina Fernandez earned an M.B.A. and worked at IBM and as a stockbroker at Merrill Lynch before coming home to work as a wife and mother of four. The First “M” of Marketing - The Market for Professional Service Providers

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By David Rachford In the first of a three part series, I want to talk about the first of the “Three M’s” of Marketing - they are: 1. Market 2. Media 3. Message When an professional service provider like a CPA or Attorney looks at a “Market” or “Niche” there is at first a tendancy to look at “everyone” as a potential client. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Just like you woulnd’t see an orthopedic surgeon for a skin condition, we all have our specialties in services we offer, and problems we solve. Specializing limits your liability and allows you to focus your resources. As you define your customer, you further define the Market you wish to serve. For example, you want to serve business owners who have the following charachteristics: - Revenues between 500K-5M - Business established more than 5 years - 3-50 employees (or more) - The ability to pay your fees If you are a CPA and serve individuals and provide tax services - what is the market you wish to serve? is it geographical? Is it within certain Zip codes, or employees of certain major employers in the area? As small business owners and professional service providers - we don’t want to flood the marketplace with our Message with all Media, we want to focus our efforts as much as possible within our chosen Market - which will greatly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our investment. And don’t forget the most important Market of all: The Market you already have established - don’t spend all your energy on acquiring new customers, spend time, effort and money reminding your current clients the value you bring to the table. You’ll be rewarded with more referrals as a bonus. And its always a good idea to make your invitations attractive. Heart-shaped invitation cards are always a winning idea, or you may also send out invites in shapes of cupids, lock-n-key or roses. Have a Theme Party For your Valentine’s Day party, decide on a theme and have the decorations, gifts, games, and costumes based on it. For instance, if you have a jungle theme party, the guests can come as Tarzan and Jane or dress up in animal suits. Or they can don fur coats, fake horns etc. You can decorate your house with some outdoor plants or can have an outdoor party itself at your backyard. You can go for any theme you fancymay be an Adam-n-Eve theme, or say a classical theme ! Just let loose all your funky ideas for this day. Games Games are an essential ingredient of any party, and for your Valentine’s Day party, have lots of games to add to the celebrations. Chin Balance, Things I Love, Candy Treasure, and Candy Quest are a few all-time favorite Valentine’s Day games. Have these at your Valentines Day party and let the fun flow ! Music and Dance Music and dancing are synonymous with Valentine’s Day parties. So take time to decide what kind of music you want at the party. If the guests are more willing to have some intimate moments with their partners, then keep some slow, soulful ballads playing for some close dancing. If the mood is more vibrant and young, its better to go for fast dance numbers. But make sure that the most of what you play are love songs, because its Valentines Day after all. The Little Darlings How can one leave the kids out on this big day of love ? So arrange for a Valentine’s Day party for the little kiddos too. Organize the party for one or two hours and start it off early at around 4 oclock in the afternoon so that the little beings dont tax it to much towards bed-time. Include games and some cute kiddy-dancing. Its of course a good idea to arrange for pizzas, burgers and sandwiches as the kids would be overstuffed with candies and other sweets on Valentine’s Day. Make small heart-shaped name tags to welcome all the little guests. Also have party favors reserved for them. Party Food It is advisable to serve finger food at a Valentine’s Day party. It will be easier for you to arrange and the guests will love it too. Along with that, you can go for lots of cakes, cookies and Valentines Day special candies. Savor the flavor of love and joy as you hug and wish each other a very Happy Valentines Day. Singles Fun If you are single and feeling a little low about it on Valentine’s Day, then this next party idea will surely cheer you up. You dont need to sit and sulk on Valentine’s Day. If you are a woman, then why not celebrate with all your girl friends together ? How about having a slumber party with a good men-bashing session ? Guys could have a kind of bachelor party with poker, booze and a lot of men-talk. These sure are cool Valentines Day party ideas for the single-and-seeking ! So with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, start planning for your big party. Try these party ideas while celebrating with your sweetheart and friends. Decorate the house and get all the gifts in advance. It is the season of love and celebrations and so make the most of it by partying and dancing and singing and most importantly, spending some precious time with the one/ ones you love.
