Summer Wedding Flowers

May 3rd, 2008 by kerrisimmonds

By Eddie Tobey Since summer is the most popular time for weddings, it is very important to decide in advance the type of wedding flowers wanted by the bride. Since the florists are bound to be busy with many other weddings, the bride should be sure of her choices. One good thing about summer weddings is that just about any kind of flower is available at the time. Favorite pastel colors include cool blues and pale yellows. Bold purples, brilliant reds and oranges really suit this season. Roses give a very traditional summer wedding feel. Orange, red and yellow roses in the bouquet or the hair gives the feel of bright sunny days. Sunflowers are perfect for a modern summer wedding. It can bring the feel of the sun to the wedding with its vibrant colors. Some popular choices for summer weddings are: foxglove, hyacinth, bachelor buttons, geraniums (pink, red, white, blue), hollyhock, moss rose, lilies, poppy (red, orange, yellow), carnations, daisy, pansy or berries (Blueberry or Raspberry). Outdoor locations are very popular for summer weddings, and can determine the flowers used in the wedding. If the wedding is being held in a botanical garden, the kind of flowers in the garden can be used in the bouquet. If the wedding is by the seashore then the deep blue iris or bachelor buttons along with sand-colored tulips can be a perfect choice. Sunny yellow and fiery red poppies can also be appropriate. When paired with green ferns, white lilies can have a striking effect. With so many choices, it is very important to understand the feel and mood expressed by each of these flowers, and choose accordingly. Wedding Flowers provides detailed information about wedding flowers, fall wedding flowers, silk wedding flowers, spring wedding flowers and more. Always On Stage - 3 Quick Tips for Trade Show Exhibitors

May 1st, 2008 by kerrisimmonds

By Julia O’Connor Do you feel uncomfortable when you’re in the trade show booth? Like folks are looking at you? Like you’re on stage? Got as little stage fright? Well, folks are looking at you. Yes, it’s like you are on stage. Here are three quick tips to make you comfortable when in the booth. 1. Always face the aisle. You need to be able to see who else is coming down the aisle. At most turn to a 45 angle, even when giving a demonstration. Never have your back to the aisle - thats just rude. 2. After the visitor leaves the booth, dont gossip or make gestures that either show pleasure or displeasure. Why? Because the visitor may turn around and see you. But more importantly, the next visitor will see your reaction and may be hesitant to approach you thinking you will make a comment about him as well. 3. Memorize your booth layout. Know where your other staff members are at all times. Not only do you need to know your hourly show schedule and booth appointments, but where other staff members are in the booth. Why? It may be necessary to pass along a visitor who has a problem, a visiting executive who requires special assistance, a client with an order. If you cant handle it, you must be able to quickly find the right associate. So, all the bad behaviors we think people dont see us do? Yes, they do. Thats why its important for staff to recognize that they are on stage the entire time of the show. Julia O’Connor - Speaker, Author, Consultant - writes about practical aspects of trade shows. As president of Trade Show Training, inc,, now celebrating its 10th year, she works with companies in a variety of industries to improve their bottom line and marketing opportunities at trade shows. Student Moans and the Quarterlife Crisis

April 28th, 2008 by kerrisimmonds

By Rachel Lane Its that time of year again when global issues take second place in the British media, to make space for the great A level debate. Packed with case studies of Laura achieved nine A grades and was still rejected from her first choice, you have to wonder how long students can maintain the will to study. Its not just the fact that companies and newspapers are debating whether students are actually getting more stupid (A levels are the new GCSEs apparently), students are debating themselves whether they are getting more stupid by even considering going to university in the first place. Lazy British journalists are still reciting that the average graduate starting salary is still around 25,000. At Cashzilla, were not entirely sure where they get this figure as most graduates start well below this sometime as low as 12,000. thats not much money at all when you owe more that that in student debt. But still as unimaginative schools and parents coax their kids into three (or more) years of vacant academia, it takes a gutsy 18 year old to take a long term approach to what they may wish to do with their life. It is true that there will always be careers that demand a university education, but many young people get pushed on to the higher education conveyer belt, without any idea of what theyre doing there. If there was a booming graduate jobs market at the end of the production market vacant graduates would be fine. But there are real concerns about how crowded the universities are becoming and how students are managing their finances. It is a phenomenal burden to allow students to borrow such significant amount of money and then watch them struggle for employment upon graduation. Even when they get a job, many find it doesnt meet the high expectations pumped into them at university. No wonder the quarter life crisis has become a lifestyle segment. If you are a student, graduate or university virgin, you must read Damian Barrs article Crying on the inside from Times Online (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,8123-1093294,00.html), its a superb summary of life as a British twenty-something. On a slightly more practical, but just as constructive note, there is an abundance of advice and support available on the internet. “Support 4 Learning” is a superb site (http://www.support4learning.org.uk/money/index.htm) and moneynet offers an excellent student finance guide, but dont get distracted by searching for additional loans and credit cards! By all means go to university and have lots of fun, but bear in mind that the graduate market is hugely competitive and again t h e g r a d u a t e m a r k e t i s h u g e l y c o m p e t i t i v e. We would rather see young people take some time out to work, travel and gain experience before embarking on a hedonistic journey of sex, drugs and rock and roll. Yes you have the right to an education, but remember that education does not always lead to freedom, especially with the current price of a degree. Couples Relationship Assessment Quiz - Part 21 - Conscious Meaning

April 26th, 2008 by kerrisimmonds

By Glenn Cohen Do you carry a good luck charm? Do you watch a movie and think about a special time in your own relationship? Conscious Meanings entail the creation of rituals, symbols, and structures for yourself, your relationship, and your family. They comprise the words, actions, and objects that hold personal and spiritual significance. Conscious Meanings allow you to remain on course along your Journey from I-TO-WE, bypassing the familiar storms and rocks that could sink your relationship. This assessment helps you recognize the meanings in your life. This free set of assessments offers you the chance to find powerful answers. If you are willing to take the time to reflect on these questions, discuss them, and be honest with yourselves and each other, it can help you on your journey to Co-Create a Conscious Relationship so you can be Best Friends During the Day, Lovers at Night, and Partners for Life. The adventure of life gives us the incredible opportunity to learn and grow as individuals. I like to say that we do not stop learning, stretching, growing, maturing, and changing until we are 6 feet under. What happens so often is we go through life unaware that we dont know what we dont know. In this fast-paced world, many of us do not have or take the time to sit, take a deep breath, and really think about the statements addressed in these assessments. We usually do not reflect on and consider the impact the answers to these statements can have on our relationship. We must gain the awareness, learn the techniques, and practice the skills to Co-Create a Conscious Relationship. Take your time to think about each statement and be honest. One partner should use a black pen and the other partner a red pen. Rate your degree of agreement for each statement on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being a definite yes and 1 being a definite no. Write your score on the first line to the left of each statement. The second line is for your partners score. You may find it difficult to give certain statements a low score. You may worry that your response will hurt or offend your partner or create conflict. Honesty, however, is critical for the success of the Co-Create a Conscious Relationship program. Also, no matter what score your partner writes down, be supportive; do not get defensive, resentful, or angry. Thank him or her for being courageous and honest. All of the topics in this assessment series are covered in detail, with exercises, in my book The Journey from I-TO-WE. Conscious Meaning _____ _____ - 1 - We know the importance of rituals in creating meaning in our relationship and family. _____ _____ - 2 - We have created rituals for communicating our thoughts and feelings. _____ _____ - 3 - We have created rituals of friendship and connection. _____ _____ - 4 - We have created rituals to honor our values, vision, and spirituality. _____ _____ - 5 - We have created rituals to satisfy each others needs and wants. _____ _____ - 6 - We have created rituals to have safe, honest, respectful, and loving discussions. _____ _____ - 7 - We have created rituals to manage or solve our problems. _____ _____ - 8 - We have created rituals for romance, intimacy, and sexuality in our relationship. _____ _____ - 9 - We have created rituals for our family. _____ _____ - 10 - We have created rituals to make each other feel safe, loved, and cared for. _____ _____ - Total Score You have 10 statements for a total possible score of 100. If your total is: 80 or higher — You scored in the upper percentile Congratulations! You have obviously taken the time to work, ensuring your relationship has the best chance to be successful. Though your relationship is strong, it can only benefit from gaining new awareness, new skills, and new techniques. Good luck in Co-Creating a Conscious Relationship! 60 79 — You scored in the average range Congratulations! Re-read the statements you scored low on and take the time to learn how to raise your score. Consider Co-Creating a Conscious Relationshipthrough gaining new awareness, new skills, and new techniques. You and the relationship will be much stronger on The Journey from I-TO-WE. 0 59 — You scored in the lower range Congratulations! You now know where you need to take the time to closely examine these areas of your relationship. It would benefit both of you to think about these statements, and work toward Co-Creating a Conscious Relationship through gaining new awareness, new skills, and new techniques. Commit to each other to give unselfishly and unconditionally to do whatever you need to do to make each other feel safe, loved and cared for I hope this part of this assessment has been enlightening and helpful. When you get a chance, take the next set of this assessment. Keep the print outs for each so, at the end of the series, you can trace your progress on your journey to Co-Create a Conscious Relationship. 10 Critical Tips on How to Hire an Attorney

April 22nd, 2008 by kerrisimmonds

By Aaron Brooks In the modern world an attorney does more than bail people out of jail. Every business including that of the World Wide Web needs the services of an attorney. But the world is full of attorneys of all kinds and sadly not all are honest. Since a client attorney relationship is based on trust you would need to only appoint an attorney you are comfortable with and are not intimidated by. Another important consideration is what you need an attorney for. Law is a specialized field and you will need to look for an attorney who practices in the area you need help with. Before just selecting an attorney at random it would be advisable to familiarize yourself with the way law works. Many states have websites to guide people. Check out everything before you hire a lawyer.Set yourself a goal to locate a lawyer who you like and trust. One you can confide in and one who will care about what happens to you. A lawyer is in many ways your conscience so choose with care. Think about using a reputed lawyer referral service like this one set up by the Massachusetts Bar Association. The 10 most critical things a lawyer must toe the line for are: 1. He must have the proper qualifications and have extensive experience in the field of law you need him for. You cannot choose a criminal lawyer to handle say a divorce case. 2. He must agree to handle your case himself and not assign you to a colleague or assistant. 3. He must be licensed to work in the area and state or country you need him. 4. He must be honest and upfront with you about the case. If he thinks you have no chance of winning he must say so. 5. He must answer your questions clearly and tell you about not just his successes but failures too. 6. He must be well connected in your area other wise the case will be a damp squib. 7. He must not be loose lipped and discuss salient features of your case at social gatherings. 8. He must lay the cards on the table regarding fees and there should be no hidden charges. 9. His experience should enable him to tell you how long he thinks your case will take and what the strong and weak points of your case are. 10. He must make an effort to listen to you carefully, make notes, read your file thoroughly and not just set the file aside, smile at you and shake your hand within minutes to indicate the meeting is over. What is most essential for you when you step out to hire a lawyer is to do your homework. Ask friends, business colleagues, and others who have ever used a lawyer. Learn how to sift through the chaff and find a lawyer that will suit you most. Do not hire one that charges the lowest fees. Find one that is well qualified, dedicated, and affordable. Why Exercise

April 20th, 2008 by kerrisimmonds

By Jeff Foster Exercising is a part of a fit and healthy way of living yet so many find it absolutely boring. Although those who live to exercise like to claim that others are purely too lethargic or too spoiled by the contemporary couch-bound way of life to exercise on a routine basis, this is not forever the case. Some folks have far too busy daily schedules to press in just another time and effort consuming activity. And it is not just that, but there are still way too many folks who find the never-ending repetition of the identical motions unbelievably boring. The truth is that exercising can only be thought of as a time of happiness by folks who love such things, while other people focus their total awareness on the consequences and forget the humdrum routine. If you are unable to enjoy or stop even remembering the dull part, then you will predictably think of exercising as a burden. But, this outlook is not very good for your strength. But consider this, you may think that you have are on top of the world, you are youthful and fit and you may believe that you can get away without exercising but as age, guess what, it is not going to work. But this nice system doesnt always pan out the way that you think it will. By the time you reach your forties you have to face the fact that your physical appearance is going to age and as you age things happen. Heres the problem with that butchered thinking and that is by the time you find yourself forty or older you may not be able to lay back and chill out and your health may not be in top shape precisely because of abandoned exercising. Straightfoward physical activities like 30 minutes of jogging or aerobics each single day can go a long way toward attaining old age with a well heart and a better figure than many others who are your very same age. It seems many people are terribly impressed worldly things, but wealth cannot procure your young and vigorous health back again, not to even talk about the fact that often times they are also useless when it comes to happiness. If your busy lifestyle has led you to develop health issues such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol, then cash is not going to fix these problems. However even just a small amount of physical activity each and every day could make the difference in your old age. It should also keep you from getting a spare tire around your waist. Lets face it, looking soft and flabby as you age really just isnt all that attractive, so make a decision to do something about it. So getting in shape can be painfully dull and time consuming and doesnt always help you reduce stress in any way, but it does help your body deal with the load of pressure and it does help your survival at all physical levels. It is a known fact that most of the members of the opposite sex will also find a hot and sexy figure and one that is not overweight more attractive than someone who is a couch potato as evidenced by the condition of their body. So stop over planning your day with so many things to do every single day and make room for planning and shopping for weight loss appropriate meals and giving yourself time to exercise and find that well toned and shapely body hiding underneath. Veil In The Uk Right Or Wrong

April 19th, 2008 by kerrisimmonds

By Adam Bell This has sparked a major debate in the UK on whether or not the full veil known as the hijab should or should not be worn in public. In this article I will look into the pros and cons in this argument beginning with why the veil should not be worn in public in the UK. There is an argument that says that for generations in England, women have fought for full equality. The veil is an outward and visible sign of the subservience of women in the more conservative male dominated Muslim sects. As such it is unacceptable to the host community which is still predominantly liberal, tolerant and Christian. It is only a small step from the veil to hanging women for adultery. This is not a Muslim state and will never be one. The old adage “when in Rome do what the Romans do” can easily apply here. At the end of the day this is England where everybody should follow the English way. When you speak to a person you should give them eye contact and how can you do that when you can’t see their face. What about face to face contact when you can not see somebody’s face. Whilst any person lives in England you follow the tradition’s and culture of England. Like it or move somewhere else. The other side of the coin in this debate centres on Britain being a multi culturalist society and we should respect and welcome the traditions of other religions in this country. We believe in the right of freedom of expression so it should be perfectly acceptable for a Muslim woman to wear the hijab whenever and wherever she likes if she is not hurting other people. How on earth can the veil make you feel uncomfortable?. You can see her eyes and hear her voice what more do you need to see. Women who prance around ‘half naked’ wearing vest tops, bra tops and bikini tops are the ones who offend and make other people uncomfortable. That compared to the veil is nothing. The veil is a good thing and nothing bad comes from it as result from wearing it. I have looked at both sides of this debate and written about many of the sensitive issues involved. I will now express my own conclusions on the subject. I think there are a lot of different groups who get up in arms over things instead of trying to understand why the problem has arisen in the first place. As far as I understand Jack Straw is not commanding the women of Blackburn to take off their veils. he has asked politely, its their choice if they want to or not. If Muslims believe that women should cover their face then let them. Its a belief and as a multi cultural society we should accept that. When someone notes that those who hide their faces might find it difficult to integrate. This comment should not be a cause for outrage but understanding. Why do people find it difficult to talk to someone who covers their face? Why should not seeing who you are talking to make you uneasy. Jack Straw has opened an interesting debate, the best outcome can only come from seeing why it has been said in the first place instead of getting outraged and setting up defenses. Maybe if we all wore blindfolds we’d appreciate each others personality regardless of what we are wearing. Make Your Own Fish Bait with Common Household Ingredients

April 13th, 2008 by kerrisimmonds

By Darren Takenaga If you would like to increase the chance of catching more fish in your next excursion, you might want to consider making your own fish bait. Why? If you look at the store bought baits, there are only a few brands. Imagine going to your favorite fishing hole and the majority of the baits cast into the water are from the same company. The fish wont have much of a choice but being attracted to the same store bought bait. Now imagine if you brought along fish bait that you made yourself. Your bait will stick out like a sore thumb from the other baits and the fish will seek you out. Making your own fish bait is not only easy, it is fun and cheap. You can make the bait with your children and share the fun the next day catching fish knowing that you made the bait yourself. You can make pounds of bait for literally pennies and keep the unused portion in the freezer for months. There is going to be some experimentation on your part. However, I have included the more popular ingredients and descriptions found in homemade baits. When you are making your bait, make sure to write everything down because if you fill your stringer full of fish, you want to be able to duplicate the winning formula. Most of the following ingredients can be found at a well stocked grocer and feel free to experiment with other ingredients not listed below. Also, these ingredients are commonly found in trout baits so I would like to advise you that you will probably have more success utilizing these ingredients for catching trout. 1) Uncooked oatmeal popular as a base (keeps all the ingredients together in a doughy mixture) 2) White bread also popular as a base 3) Water required in most cases to help make the mixture workable 4) Garlic salt found in most store bought baits (probably a good idea if you used it also) 5) Garlic powder similar to salt but may alter the fish attractant properties 6) Mini marshmallows also found in store bought baits (helpful for flotation purposes) 7) Can of tuna found in many homemade bait recipes. Maybe the old timers know something. 8) Anise oil extract almost a requirement for trout bait 9) Red food coloring it seems color attracts along with smell and taste 10) Yellow food coloring same 11) Cheese Ive seen recipes with American and especially Velveeta cheese 12) Ziploc bags great for mixing your ingredients, storage, and taking to fishing hole. I hope this information gives you a great head start in developing your own homemade secret fish bait. Just remember to have fun. Darren Takenaga is an outdoor enthusiast, and avid angler. Get A Little Help When Planning Your Wedding And Honeymoon

April 10th, 2008 by kerrisimmonds

By Martin McAllister From your engagement party (should you so decide to have one) to the honeymoon, weddings are becoming increasingly lavish affairs which require accurate and detailed planning. But if you can’t afford a professional wedding planner or a wedding planning service, don’t be afraid of making the journey - which could perhaps be the most important of your life. There are always organisations and individuals on hand to help, and careful planning could save you a lot of hassle in the run up to your wedding and honeymoon. For starters, it’s a good idea to start a wedding checklist right from the beginning. Why not create this in a small pocket notebook, so you can carry it around with you easily during your preparations? When you’ve done this, creating a budget, establishing a preliminary guest list and securing a venue and a date for your celebrations should be your most important priorities. Once these crucial aspects of your wedding planning process have been dealt with, you’ll be able to enjoy its more frivolous aspects, such as creating a gift registry and organising bachelor and bachelorette parties. When it comes to your actual wedding ceremony, arranging your rehearsal dinner is an important step towards preparing accurately for the big day. It’s also vital that you determine your out-of-town guest list as soon as you can, so that you can select hotels and make transportation arrangements and accommodation reservations. In order to ease the burden of organisation, there are plenty of hotels offering wedding planning services that can come to your rescue if youre having trouble planning this particular aspect of your wedding. But make sure that your immaculate planning looks beyond your wedding day; it’s important not to lose sight of taking care of honeymoon arrangements as well. As with wedding planning, make sure you determine a budget for your honeymoon before you start embarking on grand ideas. Investigating destinations that are within your price range is crucial to the success of your honeymoon, so make sure you do your research thoroughly. There are a variety of hotels across the world which offers holiday packages for honeymooners on romantic getaways, as well as offering a variety of benefits: for instance, deluxe accommodation for two or a complimentary bottle of wine. So, while there’s a lot to think about in planning a wedding, remember that it should be fun as well! Moreover, you can rest assured that there will always be resources at your disposal and people on hand to make sure you enjoy your special day to the maximum.
